Cobra Puma Golf: Fan Zone

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

Client: Cobra Puma Golf

Event: Texas Valero Open 2021

Activations: F1 Simulator | Golf Skee-Ball | Football | Golf Simulator

Location: San Antonio, Texas USA

The Brief

Having activated for Cobra Puma Golf in 2019, the team were very happy with what Provision had previously designed and delivered. They wanted to focus on refreshing the activation and ensuring it was in line with COVID regulations & guidelines for Texas, and ensure there was an opportunity to gather data.

Due to the restrictions in place as a result of COVID, Cobra Puma Golf were not sure if they were going to be able to activate at the Valero Texas Open, as they were waiting to hear if fans would be able to attend the event. We were able to work with them, to be ready to press go as soon as they were given the go ahead, and the whole activation from start to finish was turned around in just 4 weeks!

The Process

Due to the global pandemic, it had been a while since fans had been firstly allowed at events, and secondly allowed to take part in activations! The team at Provision wanted to make sure all activities were engaging and memorable – whilst hitting the brief and ensuring everyone was kept safe.

The Result

F1 simulators: Fans could live out their fantasies of being Lewis Hamilton and trying their hand at racing around Silverstone.

Football (Soccer): Fans were given 6 attempts to get the ball through different holes in the back banners and score as many points as possible.

Golf Skeeball: A great activation for all ages to get a feel for the clubs. Fans had 3 shots to chip the balls in to different scoring zones.

Golf Simulator: A chance for fans to win a set of King Cobra irons each day! Fans had the opportunity to take on the 16th hole at Valero Texas Open – a par 3, 180-yard shot. They got 3 shots, and whoever was closest to the pin that day, walked away with the clubs – not too shabby! Fans were asked to register to take part in this competition.

This was our first live event since the global pandemic, and safety was at the forefront of everything.

Key policies in place that all staff had to read, sign and adhere to included:

  • The activations were amended to be more ventilated with new roofing systems, and open sides to allow for air flow.

  • Limiting numbers within the activation at any one time.

  • Strict management of the queue.

  • All staff wore face masks when needed and fans were encouraged to.

  • Hand Sanitizing stations at entry and exist points.

  • All kit cleaned after each person used it.

  • Each activation was separated by fencing, with a strict one-way flow fans had to follow.

The team at Cobra Puma Golf said: "We were really pleased with the on-site event managers and have continuously had a great experience with the Provision staff. They were professional, enjoyable to work with and quick to resolve any issues."

A number of our clients come back each year to build on what we designed for them. It becomes a two-way partnership as we fully understand the brand and the message that they are pushing out to their fans. In addition to the activation Cobra Puma Golf also worked with Provision’s Design Studio to produce renders of their hospitality area to help promote their COVID-safe hospitality options for this year's event.
