Charleston Open: Fan Zone

The Brief:

For the 3rd year in a row, the Charleston team commissioned us once again to deliver the fan zone at the popular WTA event. The Charleston Open has won Tournament of the Year on the WTA circuit for the last 2 years, praised for its outstanding fan experience and wider dedication to women’s tennis. Therefore, it was important for us to continue this standard into the 2024 tournament!


The Process:

After 2 hugely successful years delivering the Charleston Open Fan Zone, we were ready to step it up a notch as we always like to do! The team were keen to utilise some of our new activations for 2024, whilst still including our timeless tennis activations that are accessible and enjoyed by fans of all ages and abilities. The focus was to elevate the fan experience by providing a competitive and fun but comfortable environment for fans to engage with.


The Result:

Charleston Open Fan Zone: The Fan Zone featured 5 tennis activations, including our brand-new Reaction Challenge and the return of our most loved tennis activations!  



Speed of Serve: Fans have three attempts to achieve their highest speed of serve!


Knock’ Em Down: Armed with a tennis racket, fans were challenged to knock down as many tennis balls as possible from the pillars.  


Reaction Challenge: Keeping you on your toes, fans had 60 seconds to score as many points as possible by hitting the targets on the wall as quickly as they could.   


Multiball Tennis Simulator: A favourite from last year, we switched up the gameplay for fans where they had a choice of points based or arcade games. Targets would be shown on the screen where fans had to hit the ball at the screen.


Ball Crew Challenge: Replicating the role of ball boys & girls within elite tennis, fans had to roll the ball 10m into the ball kid’s hands.


It was a privilege to continue our long-standing relationship with the Charleston team, where we welcomed over 25,000 fans through the Fan Zone at the tournament. With a wide range of activations on offer for younger fans, friends & families to interact with, our team enjoyed being part of the drive to increase tennis participation and interest. The power of activations is swiftly becoming recognised as an essential tool to support these initiatives across all sports. The team thoroughly enjoyed being involved with the event once again!
